So it is better to treat this minor incident as soon as possible. PREPARE THE AREA-CHIPPED

  • Prepare the chipped or scratched area by cleaning it with a cloth. Make sure to clean the surface before applying the primer, because if there is any dirt or rust accumulated the paint application won’t be that smooth.
  • If there is any prior paint stuck, clean it up with the thinner, a day before.
  • Keep repeating the process until thoroughly satisfied.
  • Give it a day to dry
  • Make sure the chipped or scratched area doesnot have any loose ends.
  • Use a toothpick to take the edges off a scratch. Or to get rid of any loose paint
  • Keep repeating the process until the application area is smooth.
  • Wipe the chip and the surrounding area well. Use a thinner or pepper spray for this purpose
  • After you are satisfied that the area is clean, apply primer, let it dry, apply primer again and move on to the next step of applying paint.

APPLY THE PAINT

  • PAINT REPAIR PEN

If the scratch or chip you need to repair is really small, like the size of a small dot of half in inch, let say, we recommend you to use a Paint pen. It is the most convenient, easiest and cheapest option for small nicks of scratches and chipped surfaces. The pen has a tip when pressed releases a small amount of paint. Small enough to cater to a small chipped area.

If the area you are painting has a smooth surface, the application is easy. Keep applying several thin layers of paint, let each coat dry before applying the next till you are satisfied with the result

  • SPRAYPAINT

For large and big scratches we recommend using spray cans or spray guns. While this spray cans and using spray guns are expensive, it does give you a smooth result especially if there are large area of paint that needs to be covered.

With lots of Titan repacking kits and other parts, there are different patterns of paint you can use to give your damaged area a polished and professional painted look.

So use this method if you want a pro-look and there is a big area that needs to be repaired or fixed.

  • PAINT BRUSHES

The paintbrushes can be used to touch up paints in areas that are bigger than the size of a few dots but smaller compared to large areas. This method is cheap as well, but the get a finished look with a brush is a bit tough unless you are a professional.

For using paintbrushes its important to invest in a good brush and preparing your paint application your self otherwise it might result in a not so smooth paint look.

There is also a thing called brush bottles that are available in the market. It’s a bottle of 2-ounce size and it will help you with touch up small areas of scratches.

It is very important to make sure that the paint you are using, the color tone match the surface area of your repair. This is something you need to make sure when you are buying paint from the store. It is easy when the surface you are coloring is black or white. But when its some other shade of color, its extremely important to get the exact shade. Also, keep in mind that a few repeated applications might make the color darker. We always recommend to if you are doing it your self, test the application of the paint on a separate disposable surface to check the color tones.
