How To Keep Your Kids Away From Big Screens – The Biggest Problem For Today’s Parents

Well, I should not be starting this blog with a focus on reducing the screen time of today’s kids when their own parents are addicted to it. Can it work that way? Nope, because if you are yourself addicted to streaming services such as Netflix, Prime, YouTube, Vimeo and Social Media such as Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, then expecting your kids to part their ways from the same doesn’t make any sense. Therefore, the first step for any parents to keep their kids at a safe distance from their daily screen hours is to keep themselves separated first. Otherwise, none of the methods suggested in this blog will work well for them.

Many CBSE schools in Jaipur have noticed that the tendency of today’s students to stay stuck on their handheld screened devices is continuously increasing. In response, they are organizing specialized parents-teacher meetings and students-teacher meetings to teach both students and parents to regulate their habits. Things weren’t like this all the way back in the 90s. Two decades ago, the world we live in witnessed very stunning changes in the sector of technology. And smartphones, TVs, and the Internet were most affected by it. Some parents complained that the technological shifts were rather bad instead of being good.

However, while they are not looking at the wider benefits the technology has been given us, their concern for the lives of their little ones can not be ignored as well. Their fear for this exact point is real and the negative interventions of technology in the lives of today’s kids have grown severe especially in the last 10 years with the revolution of internet, smartphones, and on-demand video streaming services. Nowadays, the impact of boosted technology is not just limited to the studies and learning of students, but they are making a powerful drawback in their daily lives as well. Therefore, it is valid to worry about it and going back to square one to find the exact solutions.

As a consequence of indulging in the medium, the life of today’s individuals, especially kids, are becoming alone, and less crowded. And the seldomness is the ground where grown numerous health and mental illnesses. Today’s gadget and gizmos centric lifestyles of today’s kids are a by-product of inactivity. Even when you are taking a walk around the time, come home from the office, or sit in a cafe with your laptop, you can witness kids with a smartphone in their hands, playing games and making videos. They will even be in a group call with their friends giving instructions on a certain game. Even if they are playing multiplayer games with hundreds of other kids, they are being isolated in actuality.

If You Kid is Small – There’s No Time To Waste

If you make your move first and set boundaries when your kid is in an early age, you are doing a great job. I have personally observed parents handing over smartphones to their infants because either they want to focus on something else or just want him to stop crying. This habit is okay if carried our once or twice in a hundred. But you should understand that the eyes of little ones are very tender and the blue rays your smartphone rolls out is extremely dangerous to them. And slowly, they will get addicted to big-screened devices. Why? Because those devices always remained their best friends when their parents were busy with some other unimportant things.

Spend Indoor and Outdoor Time with Your Kid

Remember, you can’t just say ‘no’, and as a result, your kid will never look at that smartphone again. Nope, things don’t work that way. The mind of little kids is very curious. And they always need something to keep them engaged. If you are cutting out their screen time, then you must replace that time with something productive such as inspiring them to play outdoor games with other kids and spending some quality time with them yourself.

How can you turn your kid into a slave of big screens? Obviously, by handing over these devices as their gifts on their birthdays. Instead of gifting their phones, next time you go to buy a gift, think more thoroughly and get intellectual gifts such as a set of books, online courses, and similar other things.
