Bipolar Disorder – It’s Procedure for Treatment

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is an extreme form of mental illness that is highly prevalent in the world today. People, suffering from this disease experience two episodes in which one is a depressive one and the other a manic episode. Both have elevated signs and serious symptoms that can lead to severe outcomes. The only light at the end of the tunnel in this disease is that it is considerably easier to diagnose. However, the disease has a poor prognosis as a lifelong dependency on medications, of not the therapy.

Students of psychology, who are relatively new to the field, often seek assignment help from the professionals to learn and comprehend the various intricacies of the disease. Hence, whenever they are tested or marked on assignments, they are fully prepared and ensure to meet deadlines.

According to the statistics that have been recently disclosed, approximately 20% of individuals who are suffering from depression are found to have a bipolar disorder as well, meaning that the depression was one of the symptoms. Furthermore, it takes close to ten years, in most cases, for individuals to begin the correct treatment and therapy for bipolar disorder as the symptoms are blurry with other disorders.

Understanding Bipolar Disorder:

In the manic episode, the person can experience grandiosity and annoying sense of cheeriness. They become impulsive as a result of which they make rash and potentially life-threatening decisions. They tend to tear up one minute and jump with joy and excitement the next minute. It can trigger and enhance their confidence level due to which they might think more of themselves. Their attention gets divided, and they often cause financial or property damage as well.

When it comes to an understanding of the depressive episode, the person feels hopeless, gloomy, and all shades of blue for the longest. They’re fatigued and unable to move from their place. They experience a rapid change in appetite and severe lack of energy. Due to this reason, they have trouble making decisions as they aren’t able to focus on anything at all. If not taken care of the condition, suicidal ideation can also take a turn.

Apart from depression, this disorder is often confused with borderline personality disorder due to somewhat similar features. However, the main issue at hand in controlling this condition is that of hormones. It is common knowledge that hormones and neurotransmitters play a key role in the overall mental health of an individual. Hence, whenever a person is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, they are directly consulted with a psychiatrist as it is extremely essential to treat their hormones and neurotransmitters and bring about a balance. In the initial stages, therapy is not important. It comes secondary.

Medications Prescribed To The Patients Of Bipolar Disorder:

Usually, antipsychotics, anticonvulsant, anti-depressants, and benzodiazepines are prescribed to patients who have bipolar disorder. Anticonvulsants are essential as they help in bringing stability and to deal with unexpected seizures. Sometimes, during the manic episode, when the patients are experiencing severe delusional symptoms, it’s the antipsychotics that help in calming the person. Anti-depressants and benzodiazepines are usually prescribed for patients to deal with depressive, insomniac, and anxiety-related issues.
