If you are updating your underwear drawer for the first time, you might be unsure where to begin. Between luxury labels and direct-to-consumer brands, the innerwear market has changed a lot in the past few years. Apart from the new brands, there are also new fabrics and styles that are now famous in the market. And additionally, there is the classic boxer vs briefs debate. There is also a type of underwear called boxer briefs and trunks that have also become very popular by the day. Before you choose innerwear for men, these are the following factors you should consider:
- Fitting
When you choose the fitting of a particular vest for men, it automatically boils down to your comfort zone. Boxers are generally loose and hence more breathable than briefs, trunks, and boxer briefs that are more fitting and offer various levels of leg coverage. While boxer briefs give the most amount of leg coverage among the three, trunks offer slightly less, and brief provides the least amount of leg coverage.
- Functioning
The most significant division of innerwear for men is not between boxers vs brief for men but in between fly vs no-fly underwear. A fly is the traditional option and offers the benefit of easier access. But there is also a preference for no-fly among men, especially those who have athletic choices because removing the fly cuts down the use of excess fabric that gets in the way of breathability of the underwear.
- Fabric
The last but essential factor while choosing briefs for men is the fabric. Cotton is the most comfortable and preferred option, but every cotton underwear is not treated equally. Supima or Pima cotton is the premium cotton option because they have improved softness and durability because of the extra-long fibers used while making them. The main drawback with cotton is that while it is highly breathable, it is not a preferred choice when it gets wet and takes a long time to dry. Fabrics like Modal, a semi-synthetic fabric, are highly preferred because of the softness, breathability and because it takes comparatively less time to get dried up. Modal fabric is more expensive than cotton. Synthetic fabric like polyester and nylon are also a good option for athletics because of their moisture-wicking properties; however, they are comparatively less soft and durable.
Another reason to consider while choosing underwear is the style statement. If you are a model and must do a bare body shoot, you will obviously want to wear vests that look good. Additionally, the price is also an important consideration. Since briefs are something that one wears daily and regularly washes after every use, so naturally, you do not want to spend too much on something that you don’t want to spend so much time thinking about. Keeping everyday usability in mind, you should also consider a comfortable and durable product at the same time.
